Dr. Xinwen Fu gave a talk at Security Awareness Day - Community College of Rhode Island

On Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, Dr. Xinwen Fu was invited and gave an opening talk at Security Awareness Day - Community College of Rhode Island. It is amazing that the event's registration was closed before the Day because of the quota.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (United States Senator for Rhode Island) and RI Congressman James Langevin (co-chair Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus) gave a keynote speak. It was said US needs 40,000 ~ 50,000 experienced cyber security and offense professionals given the severe threats coming from the cyber.

Detective Kevin Petit & Detective Kevin Harris, Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Division, gave a talk on man-in-the-middle attacks. They said police are still dealing with the aftermath of the cyber attacks most of the time. Search warrants can be granted quickly for searching a properties, maybe a couple of days or shorter. Surveillance over public areas and state properties do not need any permit.

Major Allen and Captain Marshall of Rhode Island Air National Guard gave a talk on DoD Computer Network Defense and RI Future Application. Two groups of numbers 100 years = 5 generation of fighters and emergence of space dominance; 14 years == 5 generations in cyber operations.
